* Project Las Aguas que nos dan vida, nuestros Ríos, Teresa y Jesús.  In loving memory of Nana and Papí.

We want to open a clinic for women in the Bay Area, because we believe that women play a key role in solving many of today's' issues. It is the women who are predominantly raising and teaching the children of the future.

We would like a center where women can receive health care, health education and general life skills training. By increasing their self esteem and changing their socioeconomic status through education, we hope to facilitate a decrease in poverty, unwanted pregnancies, drug abuse, domestic violence, infection  rates of HIV and other STD’s, male dependency and other issues that women are currently facing.  It is our hope that in doing this, future generations will not suffer from these issues.

In addition to collecting blankets for terminally ill children, we plan to incorporate the elderly by starting knitting workshops in nursing homes throughout the Bay Area.  During Anita's clinical work to become a Certified Nurse Aid (CNA), she was horrified at what was considered “activity day.”  It mainly consisted of listening to the radio and there was little interaction between the facilitator and the people.  If the elderly would be asked to engage and contribute to their community we think their overall well being would improve, and at the same time, a child would be comforted.
